GDTC Runs Away with the Ribs

The RibFest 5 Miler presented 1200+ participants with a rainy morning, but saw some respectable results, especially from NH Grand Prix participants. Host team Millennium Running swept the open men’s division as Mike Danaher took home the victory in 26 minutes 8 seconds in his debut race for the club. Central Mass Strider Chris Mahoney (representing the Greater Derry Track Club in the NHGP) and Millennium Running’s Alex Leuchanka took 2nd and 3rd in 26’14 and 26’16 respectively.

The women’s side of things presented a tight race up front as Pinkerton Academy rising senior Morgan Sansing and Whirlaway Racing Team’s Heather Mahoney took it down to the final steps meters. Sansing would notch the victory in 30’29 with Mahoney hot on her heels at 30’32. Mahoney’s teammate Amy Bernard would swipe third place in 31’17. All three of the top ladies represented the Greater Derry Track Club in the NHGP competition.

As a result of the front runners and a great team showing, GDTC would pull off the team victory on the day, collection 156 points. Series leading Upper Valley Running Club would take second in 116 with Gate City third in 113. The UVRC series lead has been cut down to 47 points heading in race #5, the Bill Luti 5 Miler.
