The Striders of Gate City Extend Their Lead

The Pack Monadnock official results are in and the Gate City Striders have utilized their home turf advantage. They now lead the 2014 NH Grand Prix by 55 points with their cumulative two race total of 350 points. Greater Derry is still within striking distance, however, as they have collected 295 points on the series thus far. Lebanon’s Upper Valley Running Club is pretty securely in third with 146 total points while Granite State Racing Team, White Mountain Milers, and the Rochester Runners Club round out the scoring field. Here are the final team scores for the Pack Monadnock race:

  1. Gate City Striders – 154
  2. Greater Derry Track Club – 119
  3. Upper Valley Running Club – 57
  4. White Mountain Milers – 28
  5. Granite State Racing Team – 18
  6. Rochester Runners – 5

The top age graded male and female individuals on the day were Dave Dunham (GCS) and Christin Doneski (GSRT). However, Rob Edson (UVRC) and Lynn Fawcett (GDTC) lead the overall series standings.

GDTC Coach Takes Home Pack Monadnock Individual Title

Yesterday from Wilton to Peterborough, Brandon Newbould (Whirlaway Racing Team) was the overall winner of the Pack Monadnock 10 Miler in a time of 64’08” with Kevin Tilton a minute and a half back for 2nd overall. Brandon also coached members of the Greater Derry Track Club to an unofficial 2nd place finish in the NHGP team standings. Kath Hardcastle of the Somerville Road Runners was the overall female winner in 74’11”.

Also, former Gate City Strider coach Dave Dunham narrowly missed the Men’s Senior’s course record with his 70’02” finish, which was good for the top age-graded performance on the day. The Gate City Striders were the unofficial team winners with 142 points. The Pack Monadnock Race was also the 2nd installment of this year’s USATF-NE Mountain Circuit.

Gate City Opens Up With a Victory on Home Turf

The final scores of the Nashua Soup Kitchen 5k have been released. After corrections, the Gate City Striders are in the lead with 196 points. Greater Derry is keeping things close just 20 points behind while the Upper Valley Running Club is in third place with 88 points. Here is a breakdown of the scores as a whole:

  3. Upper Valley Running Club – 88
  4. Granite State Racing Team – 15
  5. Rochester Runners – 3

Rob Edson (UVRC) and Lynn Fawcett (GDTC) took top honors in the age-graded category.

I participated in the first race of this year’s series with the Upper Valley Running Club (UVRC)– the Nashua Soup Kitchen 5k. It was a well-organized event. Participants ran through a quiet, charming neighborhood complete with water stops. Volunteers were plentiful, pre and post race massages were available, a post race meal was served, and the race supported a great cause.

2014 NHGP Slated to Kick Off on Sunday

The Nashua Soup Kitchen 5k in Nashua, NH is scheduled to lead off the 2014 edition of the New Hampshire Grand Prix this Sunday, April 6th. The race is a lightly rolling certified 5k loop around downtown Nashua starting and finishing at the Muldoon Center on the campus of Rivier University. The race will be underway at 1PM. We’re looking forward to another great year of competition between the state’s finest running clubs. See you all there!

Greater Derry Track Club Captures Second Straight Grand Prix Title

After the conclusion of the final NHGP event, the Greater Derry Track Club came out on top for the second year in a row with a score of 1107 points, 96 points over runner up Gate City’s 1011 points. The Upper Valley Running Club notched the third spot with a score of 450 over Granite State Racing Team’s 436 points. Below are the scores of the Granite 10 Miler and the final series standings:

After the conclusion of the Sandown Old Home Days 5 Miler, the Greater Derry Track Club managed to take over the 2013 NHGP Series Lead. It’s still a close fight with Gate City with two races to go. Here are the scores:

Potential Granite Runner Status

Every year, the New Hampshire Grand Prix recognizes all of the runners who participated in every race in the series that season with what is called “Granite Runner” status. A commemorative t-shirt is usually awarded to those individuals at the end of the year or early the following year. This year however, the prize is rumored to be a hooded sweatshirt. The following people have completed every race in the 2013 Grand Prix thus far and are eligible to become Granite Runners if they participate in the remaining three events:

With the conclusion of Nate’s Race this past Sunday, the Greater Derry Track Club has cut the Gate City Striders’ lead to just three points. This series is shaping up to be another exciting battle between the two teams.
